Geschichte

Am 3. Oktober 2022 verkündeten der Gitarrist Stephen Harrison und Schlagzeuger Aric Improta, dass sie die Band Fever 333 verlassen haben. Harrison nannte interne Querelen und kreative Differenzen als Grund für seinen Ausstieg.cite-ref-1[1] Harrison und Improta gründeten daraufhin die Band House of Protection. Der Bandname soll ausdrücken, dass die Musiker „etwas bauen wollten, was ihre Kreativität und Ideen, aber auch die Menschen, die zu ihren Konzerten kommen, schützen soll“.cite-ref-2[2] Zusätzlich bezieht sich das Wort „Protection“ auf das gleichnamige Lied der Band Massive Attack. Am 30. April 2024 veröffentlichte das Duo die Debütsingle It’s Supposed to Hurt.cite-ref-3[3]

Zusammen mit dem Produzenten Jordan Fish (ex-Bring Me the Horizon) nahm die Band ihre Debüt-EP Galore auf, die am 13. September 2024 über Red Bull Records erschien. Das deutsche Magazin Visions führte Galore auf ihrer Liste der fünf besten EPs des Jahres.cite-ref-4[4] Im Januar 2025 tourte die Band zusammen mit Poppy im Vorprogramm von Bad Omens durch Australien.cite-ref-5[5] House of Protection gastierten auf dem im Jahre 2025 erschienenen Architects-Album The Sky, the Earth & All Between bei dem Lied Brain Deadcite-ref-6[6] Zwischenzeitlich nahm die Band mit Jordan Fish ihre zweite EP Outrun You All auf, die am 23. Bei den Heavy Music Awards 2025 wurden House of Protection in der Kategorie Best Breakthrough Live Artist ausgezeichnet und in der Kategorie Best International Breakthrough Artist nominiert.cite-ref-hma2025-8-0[8] House of Protection traten im Sommer 2025 auf den Festivals Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, Nova Rock, dem Download-Festival und dem Graspop Metal Meeting auf. Im Herbst 2025 tourte die Band gemeinsam mit Wage War vom Vorprogramm der Architects durch Europa.cite-ref-9[9] Das deutsche Magazin laut.de führte Afterlife auf ihrer Liste der besten Musikvideos des Jahres 2025.cite-ref-10[10]

Stil

Laut Maik Krause vom Onlinemagazin Morecore bewegen sich House of Protection musikalisch irgendwo zwischen Punk, Hardcore und Alternative Rock und „pumpen dies regelmäßig durch elektronische Elemente auf“. Er verglich das Duo mit den Beastie Boys, Death Grips, Bring Me the Horizon und Underworld.cite-ref-11[11] Ryan Ward vom Onlinemagazin Noizze UK bezeichnete die Musik der Band als aufwühlende Kollisionen von musikalischen Ideen, die von Punk, Post-Hardcore, EDM, Dubstep und verschiedenen anderen Genres reichen.cite-ref-12[12] Harry Shaw vom britischen Magazin Dork bezeichnete House of Protection als Duo, die „das Regelbuch der harten Musik zerstört“.cite-ref-13[13]
